Subject: BILL VALIDATOR Problem IGT PE+ POKER | Author: Dave
| [ Next Thread |Previous Thread |Next Message |Previous Message] Date Posted:06:41:47 10/06/05 Thu I recently installed a new MPU board in my IGT PE+ Multi Game Poker machine and found that the Bill Validator takes bills and put them into the cash box but gives me no credits. I use the Validator SET chip to set the denomation and enable the Bill Acceptor. Sometimes it will accept a one dollar bill and gives me the 4 credits but not always. Any bill with a higher denomations just goes to the cash box. [Next Thread |Previous Thread |Next Message |Previous Message] |

IGT used two protocol ID022 and ID023. If you are using a JCM-145, you will have to replace the EPROM with the the other version. IF you are lucky enough to have a DBV-200 instead, then all you have too do is change the position of Dip Switch #10 on the bill acceptor head. This dipswitch selects between 22 and 23. On=ID022. Hope this helps. >I recently installed a new MPU board in my IGT PE+ >Multi Game Poker machine and found that the Bill >Validator takes bills and put them into the cash box >but gives me no credits. How do I fine out which protocol my Bill Valadator accepts? Is it written somewhere on the head?? What would cause my MPU board to over heat causing the game not to hold the cards? When it cools down it OK. The MPU board is all incased in a metal tray and not much air gets to the board. >More than likely, your new board, but more >specifically, program chip set uses a different >communication protocol than your old board (chip set). > IGT used two protocol ID022 and ID023. [> [> [> Subject: Re: BILL VALIDATOR Problem IGT PE+ POKER | Author: slotnewby [ Edit | View ] | Date Posted:16:20:43 10/07/05 Fri Unfortunately, I don't know how you can unless it has a label on it. The label normally will include the reference to ID022 or ID023 (perhaps only 022 or 023). However, if its the original JCM label you are looking at, that doesn't mean its that ID# any longer, it may have been updated and converted to the other ID#. If you have the 145, the Eprom is inside and you would have to disassembly the head to see the eprom label (which is why they are typically labeled on the outside too). On a 200, the Eprom should be visible through a window in the metal plate on the underside of the bill head. If its the flash version, there will be no label on the surface mount Flash Rom, they therefore put the paper label somewhere on the metal housing of the bill head. Either way, you will need to remove the bill head from the transport assembly. Typically, the surplus parts I buy have labels all over them since they have been updated numerous times by the casino or route operator. As to your heat up problem, the boards are designed to operate 24/7 for a long lifetime. Which unfortunately, most of these already had. The problem may be nothing more than a chip or two that needs to be reseated. On your board, there are 4 Character Roms which contain the graphics info for the video processor. These 4 chips are labeled with a number begining with 'CG'. Make sure all 4 are well seated in their sockets. Just above them towards the black heat sinks, there is a small 20 pin chip which is the CAPROM. This bipolar prom contains the color information for the graphics chips. It may need to be reseated or may be heat sensitive (bad). Once you have the board good and hot and it has failed, try reseating the chips and put the board back in right away and see if the problem has gone away. If it hasn't, the use of 'Freeze Spray' is an easy way to find a heat sensitive component once it has heated up and failed. Just spray it on the suspected chip and put the board back in. Don't worry about the moisture, it shouldn't damage the board in any way and will dry up fairly fast as it heats back up. Hope this helps.
